As part of a brief i was asked to promote healthy eating or health and safety on the construction site. I choose to advertise healthy eating. I came to create my poster by creating a strap line and then using imagery and text to promote this.

Borough Market/ Southbank

Last week i visited Borough Market and Southbank in London to be able to get ideas to create two advertisement posters one for the market and one for Southbank. Before i looked around the market the group that i was in went and had a talk with the communications manager for the market where i was able to look at some of their previous posters and able to ask some questions about the market that could helped me to get a feel of the market that i could translate into the poster. For example i asked if the market wants to be seen as a modern market or a historic market what helped me to know if the poster should be in the historic style of in a modern contemporary design she said i bit of both. When i looked through the market i got an historic feel just by looking at their signage what had a vintage style to it. Even the smell of the food and the sounds gave it a historic feel and not like most food markets. I was able to taste the foods and had a very nice chocolate ice cream that was made of goats milk. After we had finished at Borough Market we walked along Southbank where we was able to stop of at various landmarks including the pub used in the mode 'Lockstock and two smoking barrels' and was also able to see a piece of 'Banksy's' graffiti what was cool. I looked in Tate Modern what i did not like that much as i don't really like contemporary work. I enjoyed looking at the Bankside gallery as i got some inspiration from one of the artists who did prints of Southbank using illustrator what would work really well as a poster. I really enjoyed the feeling of Southbank as it had a modern and young feel to it compared to Northbank what has an old fashioned feel to it. I finished the trip at the London Eye where there was a group of street dancers who were really bad! and i two people doing a cool illusion of him holding someone up with just using a pole. I really liked the skatepark because it was full of really cool graffiti what helped it really stand out.

Below are some photographs that i took while i was on the trip.

Frank Kiely

I found this artist when i went on a trip to Southbank with my college. His work is currently being displayed at Bankside Gallery in London. I took notice to his prints because they are simple yet work really well. Frank took a photograph of the scenery what he wanted to create into a print and then took it back to his studio where he drew the photograph using a black ink pen. It then looks like he has photocopied the print onto the computer and then used illustrator to give the block colour what works really well. Frank Kiely graduated from The Royal College of Art in 2002.

First website

Today i created my first html website using coding. The definition of html is 'Hypertext Markup Language' html is a standardised system for tagging text files to achieve font, colour, graphic and hyperlink effects. I experiments with doing all of these using the coding system. I was able to change the colour of my text, change the size, making the text italic and changing the width of my paragraphs.

Above is my webpage with no effects with the type.

I found this artist while i was researching about the the Festival of Britain he is a poster artist that mostly does propaganda posters. During the second world war Games worked as a war artist designing propaganda posters. games said that he got most of his inspiration from traveling on a double decker bus traveling around London because he said he was able to look at posters through the eye of someone who was just traveling around the city.

Abram Games designed this poster for the Festival of Britain in 1951.

This poster was designed for ATS recruitment during the Second World War.

This poster was designed for the London underground.

Peace One Day

This is a poster that i designed for peace one day what is on the 21st September. The aim of peace one day is to get people to cease fire and create a global truce. I came up with the 'one day, one act, one life' because i think that it suits the purpose. I used the colours blue and white because they are well known peace colours.

Quentin Blake

My favourite illustrator is Quentin Blake who is most famous for illustrating the Roald Dahl books. I really like his illustrations because they are part of my childhood and are really iconic around the world. I think that his illustrations are simple using a black pen and watercolour. I also like the way that he does not go by the lines of his work with the painting either going inside the drawing or going outside what makes his work so recognisable and distinct. The faces of his work is also really simple justing using two dots for the eyes and one stroke of the pen for the mouth.

I really like this poster for lego. This poster shows what by putting two pieces of lego together you can imagine that it is a plane. by doing this it shows that lego can open up your imagination.

This advertisement is for a fold up bike. This advertisement is simple yet effective. They show that the fold up bike is like folding up paper easy.

Maglite posters

I think that these posters are funny and clever. These posters are for a torch company called maglite. I think that these are clever because they have connected aliens with supposedly living and the dark and the flashlight is so bright that they cant look directly into it.

Durex posters

I think that these posters are fun yet effective. The advertisement company have just got a simple photograph of a product that connects with a baby then used their logo and compared the prices. By doing this they have shown that a pack of condoms would be cheaper than having a baby what would sell the product.

On the 8th september 2012 i visited Southampton Solent university to look at the advertising course. I really liked the idea of this course as they don't just look at the creative side of advertising they also look at the business side what i think would be more beneficial to my future career. i found out that i need to get MMM by the end of this year. I had a talk with one of the tutors what i found it really helpful and friendly. I found the city friendly and could easily see myself living there.

http://bryanlewissaunders.org/drugs/
I found this guy while i was scrolling through a newspaper site. He took different types of drugs and whilst he was on the these drugs he drew a self portrait with each drug affecting the outcome. I think that it is interesting how the drug affected his portrait. His work kind of reminds me of the psychedelic art during the 60's. Bryan Lewis now only takes prescription drugs because the other drugs have affected his brain. Bryan does a self portrait everyday and not one of them is the same. He started doing self portraits in 1995.
