Borough Market Posters

I was given a brief to create an advertising campaign for Borough Market. I visited the market and spoke to the head of public relations to get an idea of what they look for in their posters. I created two sets of posters. The first poster was more of a branded poster for local shoppers that i developed onto apparel and the second poster that i designed was targeted more to the tourists that visit the market. I created my own strap line 'From the crate to the plate' so that i could target shoppers within any time of poster what i think worked well.

Narrative images

I created these narrative images to narrate the play 'A midsummers night dream'. I decided to take a more contemporary approach to my design using a mixture of different techniques including drawing and digital. I created my designs in both photoshop and illustrator. I wanted to include the book into my  image so i scanned in the page that the quote is from and used it as my background i also took the quote out of the page and enlarged it what i think works well. My favourite narrative image is the bear as i think it is cute and charming.

The big book of typographics

This is my final book poster that i designed for 'The big book of typographics'. I used elephants in my poster because it is a semeiotic of 'big'. The colour grey is to represent the elephant.

Spider web

I created this alphabet using black ink and a straw. I wrote down the letter then blew the ink with the straw to create a nice effect.

Moustache

I created this poster to show the letter m in a object. I choose to use this typeface because it is an old fashioned looking typeface what i think relates to a moustache as stereotypically old people have moustaches.

Bleach type

I created this alphabet using bleach on black ink what i think gave a good look. I also splattered bleach onto the page.

Website Grid

I experimented with my website layout using the grid in photoshop. To create my grid i used the rulers to measure out each column what i found rather simple. Here are a couple of examples of what i have done.

Using simple colourful boxes to show where i would position everything on my website. For my images i used one column for them what i think is enough. My text that would go next to my images uses up 3 columns so that i don't have to squeeze in all the information. My navigation will only take up one column as i don't think that it will need much room. My header will take up 4 columns and will go over my image and text so that it will be the first thing that you see.

This is what that layout would look with images and text. I think that this layout looks good and is easy to navigate but i think it is slightly boring and could have a bit more going on but not to much more.

HND - Canterbury College

Paul Crawley from HND at Canterbury College came and spoke to us about potentially coming onto their course. The courses that they offer at Canterbury College are Graphic Design, Photography and Illustration. You can do a one year course after the 2 years to make into a full BA Hons degree. The course is £6000 a year what is cheaper than most other places and you can apply to it via ucas. I like the work that is produced and it would be a good backup option if the university plan does not work out as i would rather move away than spend 2-3 more years at the college.

I Love Chocolate

I created this by drizzling melted chocolate onto some paper then photographing it. I edited the type in photoshop and then made the letters into a sentance.

New Bucks University

I went to visit Bucks New university in Buckinghamshire to look at their advertising course what i thought was really good but i felt that it was more suited to the digital side of advertising what did not really appeal to me. To get into this course you need 200 ucas points what i think is very achievable. I also was not to into on town as i found it very small with not much to do. I think it would be beneficial to get internships as it is only half an hour away on the train to London.
